چکیده

The paper compares the features of three extensions of the notion of the Gabor’s analytic signal for 2-D signals: the analytic signals with single-quadrant spectra (AS), the quaternionic signals with quaternionic single-quadrant spectra (QS) and the monogenic signals (MS). A good platform of comparison are the polar representations of the AS and the QS and the spherical coordinate representation of the MS. Key-Words:analytic, quaternionic, monogenic signals

WARSAW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY FACULTY OF ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE OF RADIOELECTRONICS Report No. 12, 2004 A Survey of Properties of Ambiguity Functions of Analytic, Quaternionic and Monogenic Signals

The paper investigates the properties of ambiguity functions of 2-D analytic, quaternionic and monogenic signals. In the introduction the notions of the above signals and their Wigner distributions and ambiguity functions are recalled. The properties of the ambiguity functions are investigated using two kinds of test signals: A band-pass test signal in the form of a sum of two harmonic signals ...

The paper is devoted to the polar representation of n-D complex and hypercomplex analytic signals with emphasis on the 3-dimensional (3-D) case. Their definition is based on the proposed general form of the Cauchy integral. The definitions of complex/hypercomplex signals are presented in signaland frequency domains. The new notion of lower rank signals is introduced. It is shown that starting w...

Low-level image processing with the structure multivector

The present thesis deals with two-dimensional signal processing for computer vision. The main topic is the development of a sophisticated generalization of the one-dimensional analytic signal to two dimensions. Motivated by the fundamental property of the latter, the invariance – equivariance constraint, and by its relation to complex analysis and potential theory, a two-dimensional approach is...

The monogenic signal

This paper introduces a two-dimensional (2-D) generalization of the analytic signal. This novel approach is based on the Riesz transform, which is used instead of the Hilbert transform. The combination of a 2-D signal with the Riesz transformed one yields a sophisticated 2-D analytic signal: the monogenic signal. The approach is derived analytically from irrotational and solenoidal vector field...

A Novel Approach to the 2 D Analytic Signal ?

The analytic signal of a real signal is a standard concept in 1D signal processing. However, the deenition of an analytic signal for real 2D signals is not possible by a straightforward extension of the 1D deenition. There rather occur several diierent approaches in the literature. We review the main approaches and propose a new deenition which is based on the recently introduced quaternionic F...
